What is different?
Anyone who thinks that eating in Thailand would be like most Thai restaurants in this country is wrong. Duck kross - no indication. Fish or meat dishes with mixed vegetable side dish - no indication. Ornately carved carrots as decoration - also no indication.
Thai cuisine, as is common in regular restaurants in most Thai resorts, has little in common with Thai dishes in European restaurants. Ducks are usually fried and not crispy baked, the vegetables are often one-sided. On the menus of the restaurants in Thailand, the vast majority of wok dishes with often only one vegetable variety or side dish are offered: chicken with chili or cashews, pork with mushrooms or beef with beans. All these side dishes come in this country with a single Thai dish on the plate.
No question: the Thai cuisine in Thailand is tasty and good. The Thai food especially in Germany as well. Only they have been adapted to our eating habits, and some dishes on the Thai restaurant menus are all Chinese.
Eating out in Thailand - service and eating habits
Also, you have to know that the service in many restaurants in Thailand works differently than here. Hardly taken a seat, the staff is already enough to the menu and expects the order immediately (before you even opened the card). As a result, the guest usually makes it understandable to the operator that he first has to study the extensive map. Said and done. However, afterwards one has trouble getting the staff back to the table and placing his order. After several attempts it works but mostly.
One more note: In the restaurants Thailand it is common to eat with fork and spoon. Chopsticks are usually served only with noodle soup and dishes.

Cooking Class in Thailand and Germany

The topic cooking classes is also approached in Germany very differently than in Thailand. We have never attended a cooking class before. Neither at home nor in other countries. The fact that the cooking class compared to other countries was very cheap (800 baht) we wanted to of course not miss such an experience. We thought about what the gross differences are compared to a German cooking class:

- much more expensive
- only one dish per class
- need more time
- only in capital citys
- rather for people who can already cook and want to improve their skills
